How-To Create or Edit Notification Escalations
If you create a notification escalation, you can define further contacts to be informed in the event of an escalation. If, for example, a problem is not tackled after the administrator has been notified three times, according to the notification escalation, a further contact is informed.
You can define notification escalations for services as well as for hosts. Notification escalations for services take the fault status of several hosts linked to that service into account (by selection of the corresponding host group). Notification escalations for hosts take the fault status of that host into account independent of the service that has caused the fault.
For creating a new notification escalation or editing existing notification escalation, proceed as follows:
- Open the Administration Web Interface > Configuration > Advanced > Notification Escalations: A list of notification escalations, if existing, is displayed
- Click an existing entry to change it or click “Create new notification escalation” to define a new notification escalation
- Enter the necessary settings and click on to save and apply the changes.
The following describes the setting for a notification escalation in detail:
Setting | Description |

Notification escalation for the specified contact group(s) is completed after the number of repetitions defined in this input box. If you enter "0" in the input box or leave it empty, the contact groups specified in the host or service as well as the contact groups specified here (see below) are notified. |
