How-To Create or Edit Services Dependencies
Define interdependencies of different services to allow easier administration and to reduce network usage. The SONARPLEX appliance first only checks the superordinate service. Based on those results, dependent services will be checked or not checked.
For creating a new interdependency of services or editing existing service dependencies, proceed as follows:
- Open the Administration Web Interface > Configuration > Advanced > Service Dependencies: A list of services dependencies, if existing, is displayed.
- Click an existing entry to change it or click “Create new service Dependency” to define a new service dependency
- Enter the necessary settings and click on to save and apply the changes.
The following describes the setting for a service dependency in detail:
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Service | Select the dependent service from the selection box |
on single Host avoid_wrapBug_confluence | Select a single host from the selection box to be checked with the dependent service |
or Hostgroup | Select a host group from the selection box to be checked with the dependent service |
Depends on Service | Select the superordinate service from the selection box |
on single Host | Select a single host from the selection box to be checked with the superordinate service |
or Hostgroup | A host group from the selection box to be checked with the superordinate service |
Execution Failure Criteria | Status to be checked |
Notification Failure Criteria | Status to generate notifications |
Inherits Parent | If enabled, the dependent service selected from the "Service" selection box inherits the properties of the superordinate service selected from the "Depends on service" selection box. |
Same Host only | If enabled, the current configuration of an interdependency between services is restricted to the hosts of the selected host group. Enable the "Same Host only" check box to automatically configure identical service interdependencies for more hosts of a host group. This capability eliminates the need to individually define this identical service interdependency for each host. |
