How-To Create or Edit Services Dependencies

Define interdependencies of different services to allow easier administration and to reduce network usage. The SONARPLEX appliance first only checks the superordinate service. Based on those results, dependent services will be checked or not checked.

For creating a new interdependency of services or editing existing service dependencies, proceed as follows:

  1. Open the Administration Web Interface > Configuration > Advanced > Service Dependencies: A list of services dependencies, if existing, is displayed.
  2. Click an existing entry to change it or click “Create new service Dependency” to define a new service dependency
  3. Enter the necessary settings and click on  to save and apply the changes.

The following describes the setting for a service dependency in detail:

Inherits ParentIf enabled, the dependent service selected from the "Service" selection box inherits the properties of the superordinate service selected from the "Depends on service" selection box.
Same Host only

If enabled, the current configuration of an interdependency between services is restricted to the hosts of the selected host group.

Enable the "Same Host only" check box to automatically configure identical service interdependencies for more hosts of a host group. This capability eliminates the need to individually define this identical service interdependency for each host.
